 TRANCE 2001
Three shows simultaneously performed in Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness (UK) in 2001

High above the vast open expanse of the Sahara Desert, alone pilot navigates his small plane across the desolate terrain. Without warning the engine splutters and stalls, sending the hapless machine into an irreversible dive. The pilot frantically struggles in vain to regain control of the doomed aircraft. A moment later we hear the sickening crash as the unforgiving sand envelopes the wreckage. The pilot is thrown clear of the tangled wreck and lay in a deep coma.

The Spirits of the Desert surround the motionless form of The Pilot. As they do so a desert mist descends. From what appears to be a Mirage, a boy rises up and floats above the motionless body. From deep within his unconscious mind The Pilot realizes that the boy resembles himself as a child. This boy is THE LITTLE PRINCE...

The Little Prince lived on a small planet on the far reaches of the universe. A planet of immense beauty, awe inspiring volcanoes and a kaleidoscope of colour. He was in love with a young girl who's beauty was that compared to a Rose. In his heart The Prince knows that it is his destiny to travel the vast universe and seek the knowledge to be found it's wondrous creations.

He is torn between his love for his Rose, and his quest for knowledge, but knows that he must fulfil his destiny.

The first World The Little Prince visits is the Planet of the King. The King was all powerful and ruled his subjects with a rod of iron, treating them as slaves. His servants bow before him to fulfil his every wish.

The second planet he visits is inhabited by a Superstar - a conceited man - who yearns admiration, recognition and fame. There are many such people who's entire life consists of that. A mass of admirers tear at his clothes, and scream adulation just to have seen him.

The third planet is the smallest. There lives a lamplighter who's sole existence is to light and put out the only lamp. But the planet is so small and turning so quickly that he has to do it every minute. He wants to make a lamp of himself and in doing so sets himself alight.

The next planet is most gloomy and is inhabited by a drunkard who drinks to forget. The entire planet is covered with bottles - some full, some empty. He even lives in a bottle! The Drunkard is dancing and balancing on bottles. He invites the Little Prince to join him and says the truth is in the wine.

The Little Prince heads toward his final destination - the Planet Earth. It is a very beautiful place - the roses are everywhere, and the head goes round from the fragrance. Something invites to stay here forever. But the Little Prince cannot find his only Rose among millions of them. He wants to go back to his planet.

Here comes the Snake.

She is coiling between the legs of the Little Prince and tells him that if she touches and bites him, his body will become lighter, and he will be able to fly anywhere.

The Little Prince agrees, and the Snake bites him.

Everything becomes white, and a storm is coming with thunder and lightning. And the Little Prince is climbing a beam of light that guides him the Earth to the sky, where his rose is waiting for him. There they meet in love and happiness.

Then all whom the Little Prince met in his journey on various planets are following them as if in aspiration to clean themselves of earthly burden. Their bodies look fresh and shining like after the birth.

From deep within his unconscious mind the spirit of the Little Prince is drawn as if by a mystic power back to the motionless body of the Lone Pilot, who slowly regains consciousness and is lifted upwards. Was it a dream or was it reality? He looks down towards his clenched hand and realises that tight within his grasp is the most beautiful dew drenched Red Rose he has ever seen.
